Austin Theatre Alliance brings the best of two theatrical organizations together. Paramount Theatre for the Performing Arts, Inc., a presenting theatre, and State Theater Company, a resident professional theatre company. The EmilyAnn Theatre is home to Wimberley's high school drama club, as well as to several community fund raiser shows. The performances are held at the outdoor amphitheater's stage and include Shakespeare Under the Stars. It was built 1998 by the parents of a local girl who died in a car crash.

Lyric Opera was Austin's first professional opera company and was formed in 1986. They have several productions throughout the season and show an assortment of genres. In 2007, the opera will part ways with its current home and move to the Long Center in Town Lake.

Movie-goers can visit the Corral Theatre in Wimberley from May to October. The Corral was established in the late 1940s and has been playing new big-screen releases since. Guests need to bring a chair to sit. A concession stand is available to sell a variety of treats and drinks.
